A memory from three years ago today that makes me smile.😊
Above is a screenshot of my first Kickstarter campaign as it closed. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙏𝙤 𝙒𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙖 𝙃𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙂𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 reached its funding goal of $1900 in seven minutes. It was awarded Project We Love, Publishing Project of the Day (only one project gets this daily out of thousands), the Kickstarter Reads promotion, and it funded at $21,366. I only lost one $35 backer after this funded, which is also unheard of. People really wanted this book and the masterclass pledge rewards I offered.
When I planned this campaign with my publisher, I told him I expected the Kickstarter to do $20,000. He looked at me like I had lost a few screws—well, a few more screws.😜 But I had my Super Secrets Workshops in the campaign and I knew how popular they were. Turned out I was right.😊
The campaign ended at midnight on the night of the Wolf Moon. I’ve always said that’s when I come into my power.

First, let me give you the story behind the story, and why I chose “Muzik Man” to teach the strategies in my newest masterclass!
Deep Magic magazine published the novelette in its Fall 2020 issue. Jeff Wheeler, a Wall Street Journal bestselling author and publisher of Deep Magic, shared his high opinion of the story, stating on Goodreads that he believed “Muzik Man” would be nominated for awards.
“Muzik Man” went on to win the Critters 2020 Readers’ Choice Award for Best Science Fiction and Fantasy Story of the year. It earned a star in Tangent Online’s prestigious 2020 Year End Reading List. It was reprinted in Best of Deep Magic Anthology 2 in 2021, and again in a subsequent release by Oliver-Heber Books in 2024. DreamForge Magazine reprinted the novelette in two parts in 2025, and it is now being produced in an audiobook by Podium Entertainment.

•Critters Readers’ Choice Award: “Muzik Man” won the international Critters 2020 Readers’ Choice Award for Best Science Fiction and Fantasy Story of the year, based on votes from 2,500 readers worldwide. This marked my third consecutive win in this specific category.
•SFcrowsnest: In this oldest online speculative fiction fanzine, reviewer Eamonn Murphy called the novelette “damn good” and recommended it as “an original idea and well-handled.”
•General Reader Reviews: Individual Amazon/Goodreads reviews also highly praised the story as a “masterful work” and a “tear-jerker, a heart-softener, and a courage-revealer.” Multiple readers highlighted its emotional depth and impact.
